محاضرة بعنوان ماذا يعني ان تكون طالب دكتوراة. يقدمها دكتور تامر السيد، تدور هذه المحاضرة حول رحلة طالب الدراسات العليا للحصول على درجة الدكتوراة وهى رحلة خاصة جداً، كونها تتطلب طريقة تفكير مختلفة وروحاً مختلفة وتخطيطاً مختلفاً. لكن العديد من الطلاب الملتحقين ببرامج الدكتوراة ليس لديهم رؤية واضحة لسبب التحاقهم ولا أهداف مدروسة يتحدون الصعاب من أجل تحقيقها.

لهذا فهم يعانون كثيراً عندما يواجهون أي نوع من التحديات التي لا يتوقعونها أثناء دراستهم. في هذه الورشة يقدم د. تامر بعض النصائح لمساعدة الطلاب الحاليين والجدد (ومن يفكر في الالتحاق بهذا المسار) على ضبط “عقليتهم” في هذه الرحلة الطويلة والجادة والمهمة للغاية. تناقش المحاضرة بعض القضايا الهامة التي يجب النظر فيها مبكراً في طريقك للدكتوراة ومنها:

• لماذا ترغب في الحصول على الدكتوراة من الأساس؟
• كيف تكون شهادتك ذات “قيمة حقيقية” في النهاية؟
• هل “الفشل” حتمي أثناء الدكتوراة؟
• ما هي أكثر المهارات الشخصية احتياجاً؟
• كيف تبني بيئة داعمة لك طوال المشوار؟
فإن كنت ممن يستهويهم هذا المسار فإن هذه الورشة صممت بالتأكيد من أجلك.

يعمل د. تامر السيد كأستاذ مشارك في علوم الحاسب في قسم علوم وهندسة الحاسب بكلية الهندسة بجامعة قطر. وقد حصل فريقه البحثي في جامعة قطر في مسابقات البحث الدولية على المركز الأول بمؤتمر استرجاع المعلومات (TREC 2016) والمركز الثاني بمؤتمر استرجاع المعلومات (TREC 2019). شارك في تنظيم العديد من ورش العمل ومختبرات التقييم في المؤتمرات الدولية، وهو الرئيس المشارك لمدرسة ACM Africa الصيفية حول التعلم الآلي لتعدين البيانات والبحث(AFIRM) . قاد 3 مشاريع بحثية كبيرة ممولة من الصندوق القطري لدعم البحث العلمي (QNRF) ويقود مجموعة بحثية نشطة (تدعى “bigIR”) في جامعة قطر. وتنصب اهتمامات د. تامر البحثية الرئيسية نحو استرجاع المعلومات وتحليلات البيانات الضخمة.

حصل د. تامر على بكالوريوس علوم الحاسب وماجستير علوم الحاسب من جامعة الإسكندرية بمصر، وعلى الدكتوراة في علوم الحاسب من جامعة ميريلاند في الولايات المتحدة عام 2009. بعد حصوله على الدكتوراة عمل كباحث في جامعة ميريلاند وجامعة الملك عبد الله للعلوم والتكنولوجيا وشركة مايكروسوفت، قبل انضمامه إلى جامعة قطر في عام 2012. نشر أكثر من 70 بحثاً علمياً في مجلات ومؤتمرات دولية مرموقة وحصل على جائزة أفضل ورقة بحثية في مؤتمرين دوليين.

#Abstract
The outbreak of the novel #coronavirus and its disease #COVID-19 presents an unprecedented challenge for humanity. Artificial intelligence (#AI) can help fight COVID-19. Potential applications of AI in this accelerating pandemic include, but are not limited to, early detection and diagnosis, massive agent modeling and simulation, data analytics, assistive robots, disinfection robots, public awareness and patrolling, contactless last-mile delivery services, virtual healthcare assistants (chatbots) and drug repurposing/discovery and vaccine development. This talk sheds light on the roles AI can play in fighting this disastrous pandemic and highlights a number of potential applications to transform this challenge into opportunities.

تُمثل جائحة فيروس #كورونا المستجد تحدياً للبشرية، ويُمكن لتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي أن تساعد في مجابهة تلك الجائحة والتعامل مع آثارها.

فيُمكن أن تُستخدم تلك التقنيات في التشخيص المُبكر، وبناء أنظمة المحاكاة لتتبع انتشار الفيروس، وتحليل البيانات، واستخدام النظم الروبوتية للحد من العدوى، وفى الرعاية الطبية، والمساهمة في نشر الوعي الصحي والمراقبة. بالإضافة إلى الأبحاث المتعلقة باكتشاف المصل المناسب والدواء.

He worked as Autonomous Vehicles Professor at Zewail City of Science and Technology, Head of AI at Sypron Solutions, AI Consultant at Menya Solutions, Senior Research Scientist at Vestec, Canada, Director of Engineering R&I – Canada at Marques Aviation Ltd., Associate Professor and Head of Engineering Science Department at Suez University, Associate Professor and Director of Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) research group at German University in Cairo (GUC), Research Assistant Professor and AI Lecturer at University of Waterloo, Canada, Visiting Professor at Charles III University of Madrid, Spain and University of Sherbrooke, Canada, Visiting Researcher at University of Reading, UK and Distinguished Scholar at University of Applied Sciences Ravensburg-Weingarten, Germany.
