The lab provides a platform where people can learn, discuss ideas, implement them, and get evaluated. This is currently done with an online environment where a group of candidates gets mentoring and practical experience in scientific research and other disciplines through a group of academic and industry-related mentors.
Vision
Revive Egypt’s position as a global center for excellence in scientific research. Achieving excellence in scientific research is possible through the creation of a positive, stimulating environment that nurtures the potential of youth and encourages the exchange of knowledge, skills, and resources
Mission
Achieve quantitative and qualitative advancement in scientific research. Empowering Human capital to solve local and global problems utilizing an effective scientific research framework for cooperation and collaboration among scholars.
Lab Structure
Egypt Scholars Lab is divided into two phases:
Basic Lab
Which is three months long, where students theoretically learn the basics of scientific research. Students are evaluated through a series of required assignments and submissions. There is a final evaluation at the end of the lab, based on which students are either qualified for the advanced Lab or stop at the basic Lab. Basic lab objectives are:
- Reach and attract talents.
- Build appreciation and interest in scientific research.
- Develop the culture and basics of scientific research as a critical skill for undergraduate and graduate students through the ES Scientific Research lab.
- Connect Scholars outside Egypt with Egyptian-based scientific.
Advanced Lab
It is also three months long, where the qualified students are divided into small groups, with each group having a mentor from the Lab volunteers. During this time, students apply what they learned in the basic Lab in a simulated real-life research environment, and at the end, students and mentors may be able to write and publish a research paper or may only complete the Lab period. Advanced lab objectives are:
- Connect Scholars outside Egypt with the Egyptian-based scientific community.
- Hands-on research experience in scientific research and be able to use applied research processes to solve local and global problems.
- Design, implement, and monitor a system for directed studies, where qualified mentors from academia and industry conduct research with a small group of undergrad and/or graduate students for early research engagement and potential for publishing their findings in ES periodical or international conferences/journals
