      Research Fellowships for Palestinian Scholars Focusing on Gaza

      • Applicants must be Palestinian doctoral students or Palestinian scholars who have earned their PhD. All Palestinians may apply regardless of their country of residence or ID.
      • Research must contribute to Palestinian Studies and focus on Gaza. Any field of research will be considered.
      • Research must take place in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, or Egypt.
      • Field research must be for a minimum of two months up to a maximum of one year.
      • Research partnerships among Gazan scholars in Gaza, other Palestinian scholars, and PARC alumni fellows are highly encouraged especially in situations where research resources and facilities are lacking. Research can be done by a group of researchers.
      • Applicants must be scholars who have earned their PhD or doctoral students enrolled in a recognized degree program.
      • By the time research commences, doctoral students must have fulfilled all preliminary requirements for their degree except the dissertation. First and second-year PhD students are not eligible. Only PhD students who have defended their dissertation proposal and are ready to commence their research are eligible.
      • Female applicants are especially encouraged to apply.
      • Female PhD students who meet the application criteria are eligible to apply for both this fellowship and the Tanya Baker-Asad Scholarship. Applicants, however, may only receive one award.
      • Scholars who received a PARC fellowship in the last three years as well as scholars who received two PARC fellowships are not eligible to apply.

      Saïd Foundation Scholarship

      • Hold Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinian nationality and permanently reside in one of these countries. The Foundation will consider Syrians residing elsewhere due to current circumstances in that country. Palestinians living in Israel may apply.
      • Hold an undergraduate degree that is equivalent to a UK 2:1 degree or higher. Candidates who are in the final year of their undergraduate degree will also be considered.
      • Have work and/or voluntary experience that is relevant to their field of study and a clear career path on completion of their studies and return to their home country or region.
      • Demonstrate leadership potential in their chosen field or sector.
      • Have applied for an eligible course at a Foundation partner university (or have legitimate exceptional reasons for applying to a non-partner university).
      • Have met the Foundation’s English language requirements (please see here for more details). Some universities have higher requirements; candidates must meet the English language requirements of their chosen university too.

      In order to be considered for a Saïd Foundation scholarship you are required to submit the following documents with your online application. All documents must be submitted with your application.

      1. A copy of your high school marks/certificate.
      2. A copy of your university transcripts and graduation certificate. If you are in the final year of your studies, please upload all transcripts you have received to date.
      3. A copy of your current passport or national ID card (if you hold dual nationality this must be your passport/national ID card from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon or Palestine).
